A Brief History

The original Arena Football League began in 1986 with a two team "test season". The first full inaugural season was in 1987. The league lasted through the 2008 season. The league's dim financial situation caused the 2009 season to be cancelled.

The league restructured itself and returned to play from 2010 to 2019. Again, lack of finances doomed the league.

In February 2023, a third version of the Arena Football League is planned to begin play in 2024.

On July 18, 2023 the league announces the first 16 teams, and "Colorado" is listed among the names. No details on where the team will be based, but it is assumed to be Denver.

On November 16, 2023 the Arena Football League releases their 2024 schedule and none of the teams listed are based in Colorado.
