A Brief History

The Extreme Football League (X League) was announced in December 2019, as a successor to the Legends Football League. The X League is owned by Mike Ditka.

The announcement included a Colorado team, the Denver Rush. The Rush can be considered a successor to the LFL's Denver Dream.

The X League's inaugural 2020 season was postponed, and the league also did not operate during 2021 because of the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic.

In April 2023, the league has apparently decided to sit out the 2023 season and return in 2024.
